I made this Bow Tie repurposed Vintage Japanese Kimono.
This Kimono was probably from 1950’s or earlier.
The fabric is called Mon-Kinsya-Chirimen.
Kinsya-Chirimen is a one of Hutakoshi-Chirimen fabric group. It is woven thinner thread and has lighter Shibo (irregularities texiture). It is called Mon-Kinsya-Chirimen with base woven pattern.
Hutakoshi-Chirimen is a one of Chirimen fabric. Alternately woven with twice tight S-twisted and twice tight Z-twisted weft thread. Hutakoshi-Chirimen has deep Shibo (irregularities) than
Hitokoshi-Chirimen. Hitokoshi-Chirimen is the one of Chirimen fabric. Alternately woven with one S-twisted and one Z-twisted weft yarns.
Chirimen is a fabric that uses yarn with almost no twist warp threads, and is alternately woven with tight S-twisted and tight Z-twisted weft threads. Therefore, with scouring, the cloth shrinks and the texture appears on the surface of the fabric with desired irregularities.
