THE EMMA Taffeta – Regency Style Jockey Cap/Hat

‘The Emma’ is a Regency style hat in a ‘jockey cap’ style popular throughout the Regency.Worn close to the head these appear in very simple forms or highly decorated in wools, linens or silks.I have developed this one myself after researching original examples and browsing fashion plates like the one in my listing.

This fabric is carefully chosen to represent the smooth crisp silks of the period.Often modern copies use slub or dupion silk but although this is obviously a natural fibre it looks less historically accurate since the rough texture of the fabric is not representative.It is lined with 100% Irish linen/ cotton blend fabric.

I also try hard to use traditional colours which were actually much richer than the pastels which we so often see in films, although they would have faded and washed out much more quickly. The construction is as authentic as possible too with hand wired buckram brims.Please feel free to message me about colour options.
