The silver overlay technique is a laborious process using two separate sheets of silver.Both are individually designed and then soldered together. The shadow looking backspace is usually oxidized a darker color allowing depth and definition.
This came from the estate of C. Hartman.She bought and sold jewelry her entire life.Many of the pieces are museum quality and heirloom pieces.She knew many of the silversmiths and artists personally. Most of her jewelry is from 1930-2000.
